Welcome to Recast’s Endpoint Management Recap, January 2023 – by Daniel Engberg
Welcome to this year’s first Recast Recap! This month I’ve been focusing on returning to the normal groove after the time off around the holidays.
It seems like a lot of people in the community are going to MMS this year. I wish I could go, but I have other obligations that I need to attend to. Perhaps 2024 will be the year for me!
As a consultant, most of my enterprise clients are on the starting blocks, building cloud-only platforms based on Windows 11 and managed by Intune. However, this process is going much slower than expected. When I started working with Intune in 2015, many people were talking about Intune replacing ConfigMgr in a matter of a few years. It’s evident that most larger organizations will keep using on-prem solutions, such as ConfigMgr, for many years to come.

This month has been quiet from Microsoft, which usually means that things will be busier in the upcoming months.
From an endpoint management perspective, it’s been more silent than usual on the ConfigMgr side, with the latest Technical Preview released in November, with version 2211. Two missed months mean that the release cadence perhaps needs to be adjusted. Will there be a release in February with 2202? Let’s see!
